The powerful MPPT solar charge controller from Vicron is ideally suited for larger solar installations. With its input voltage of up to 250V DC and output current of 70A, several solar modules can be connected in series or parallel. Up to 1.000W of solar power can be operated for a 12V battery system, with 24V, 36V or 48V battery systems the connectable solar power doubles, triples or quadruples respectively. This makes it ideal for self-sufficient power supply using solar energy in motorhomes, caravans, expedition vehicles, boats or island solar systems.

The SmartSolar charge controller even recharges a heavily discharged battery. It can operate with a battery voltage of just 0 volts, provided the cells are not permanently sulphated or otherwise damaged.

Excellent MPPT algorithm

Ultra-fast MPP tracking: The solar charger contains an ultra-fast MPPT monitor. This is particularly advantageous with constantly changing sunlight intensity, as is the case in cloudy weather. The ultra-fast MPPT controller generates 30 % more energy compared to solar chargers with PWM controllers and up to 10 % more compared to slower MPPT controllers. The advantages of a fast MPPT controller are particularly noticeable when the sky is overcast and the light intensity is constantly changing. The optimum operating point of the solar modules also changes constantly due to different factors (module temperature, solar radiation, etc.). The MPPT controller adapts to this and always works at the optimum operating point of the solar modules, thus supplying the maximum energy to the batteries.

Optimum solar power: The solar charger has an innovative tracking algorithm (ultra-fast maximum power point tracking). This ensures that the energy yield is always maximised by approaching the optimum MPP (Maximum Power Point). In the event of partial shading, there may be two or more maximum power points (MPP) on the current-voltage curve. Conventional MPPTs tend to adjust to a local MPP. However, this may not be the optimum MPP.


Outstanding efficiency

The solar charger has excellent efficiency. The maximum efficiency is over 98 %. One of the advantages of the high efficiency is that the solar charger does not require a fan and the maximum output current can be guaranteed up to an ambient temperature of 40 °C.

Comprehensive electronic protection

The solar charger is protected against overheating. The output is designed for an ambient temperature of up to 40 °C (104 °F). If the temperature gets any higher, the output current is reduced. The solar charger is equipped with PV reverse polarity protection and PV reverse current protection


VE.Direct connection

The VE.Direct connection is used for communication with the solar charger. It can be used for various purposes, such as

  • Connection to a monitoring device, such as a GX device or the GlobalLink
  • Connection with the VictronConnect app
  • for external control

VE.Can connections

The device's two RJ45 VE.Can connections enable communication between multiple VE.Can-enabled Victron products and can be used to connect the solar charger to various devices, e.g:

  • one GX device - for monitoring and control
  • multiple VE.Can solar chargers - for synchronised charging (up to 25 controllers)

Built-in Bluetooth Smart

This is the wireless solution for setting up, monitoring, updating and synchronising the SmartSolar charge controller using the free Victron Connect app.

The VictronVonnect app offers you the following options:

  • Monitoring of the solar charger and display of solar and battery data in real time
  • Control the functions of the solar charge controller
  • Access to up to 30 days of historical data and fault histories
  • Configure the settings of the solar charge controller
  • Update firmware

Synchronised parallel charging with VE.Can or Bluetooth

Up to 25 devices can be synchronised with VE.Can and up to 10 devices with Bluetooth.


Internal temperature sensor and optional external battery voltage and temperature measurement via Bluetooth

With a Smart Battery Sense, a BMV-712 Smart Battery Monitor or a SmartShunt, the voltage and temperature of the battery (and current, in the case of a BMV-712 or a SmartShunt) can be transmitted to one or more SmartSolar charge controllers.


Flexible charging algorithms for all common battery types

Fully programmable charging algorithm and eight pre-programmed algorithms, the voltage profiles for the different battery types can be selected via a rotary knob (lead-acid, AGM, GEL, LiFePO4 etc., see manual for more information).

Recovery function for fully discharged batteries

Will initiate charging even if the battery has been discharged to 0 volts. Will reconnect to a fully discharged lithium-ion battery with internal disconnect function


Remote-controlled switching on and off

For example, for connection to a VE.BUS BMS. Alternatively, the MPPT controller can optionally be remotely controlled via a VE.Direct non-inverting cable (ASS030550300) for switching on/off. The HIGH input state (Vi > 8 V) switches the controller on and the LOW input state (Vi < 2 V, or free floating (open circuit)) switches it off.


Optional: plug-in LCD display

Simply remove the rubber seal that protects the plug on the front of the controller and plug in the display.
