The SmartSolar MPPT 100/15 is supplied with energy via solar modules and then stores it in batteries. Using the latest and fastest technology, the SmartSolar maximises this energy production and intelligently directs it to fully charge the batteries in as short a time as possible. Up to 220W of solar power can be used for a 12V battery system, with 24V the connectable solar power is doubled. This makes it ideal for self-sufficient power supply using solar energy in motorhomes, caravans, expedition vehicles or boats. The SmartSolar maintains the functionality of the battery and thus extends its service life
It even recharges a heavily discharged battery and can operate with a battery voltage of just 0 volts, provided the cells are not permanently sulphated or otherwise damaged.
To increase the charging current, several BlueSolar MPPT charge controllers can be connected to one battery bank.

Deep discharging of the battery can be prevented by connecting all loads to the load output. The load output disconnects the loads when the battery has been discharged to a predefined voltage value. Alternatively, an algorithm for intelligent battery management can also be selected. Further information can be found in the BatteryLife section.
The load output is short-circuit proof. Some loads (especially inverters) must nevertheless be connected directly to the battery, as these have too high a current requirement and would overload the load output of the charge controller. Alternatively, certain Victron inverters can be switched on and off under the control of the charge controller's load output by connecting the inverter remote control connection directly to the load output. A special interface cable may be required, please refer to the manual.
BatteryLife: intelligent battery management
Conventional battery management (without BatteryLife algorithm)If the solar charge controller is not able to recharge the battery to its full capacity within one day and the battery is charged again the next day, the battery will always be in a range between partially charged and discharged. This operating mode (no regular full charging) will damage a lead-acid battery within a few weeks or months.
Battery management with BatteryLife algorithm
The BatteryLife algorithm monitors the state of charge of the battery and, if necessary, raises the threshold for disconnecting the DC load on a daily basis (i.e. the load is disconnected earlier) until the energy gained is sufficient to charge the battery to almost 100%. From this point, the threshold for disconnecting the load is modulated so that charging to almost 100 % is achieved approximately once a week.
Automatic detection of the battery voltage
The solar charger automatically recognises a system voltage of 12, 24 V (battery voltage) the first time it is switched on. If a different system voltage is required at a later time or if the solar charger is connected to a 36 V system, this can be configured manually in the solar charger settings.
Integrated Bluetooth Smart
Thanks to the Bluetooth integrated in the MPPT solar charge controller 100/30, the use of a Bluetooth dongle is not necessary.
The wireless solution for setting, monitoring and updating the controller using Apple and Android smartphones, tablets or other devices and for displaying all solar values and historical data.
VE.Direct
You can use this interface for a wired data connection to a GX device, such as the Cerbo GX MK2 or Colour Control GX. Data can then be retrieved and displayed in real time via this interface.
Ultra fast Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT)
By using Ultra fast MPPT technology (maximum power point tracking), the BluePower MPPT solar charge controller series can increase the charging current by up to 30% compared to charge controllers with conventional PWM technology (pulse width modulation) and by up to 10% compared to slower MPPT controllers. The optimum operating point of the solar modules changes due to different factors (module temperature, solar radiation, etc.) The MPPT controller adjusts to this and always works at the optimum operating point of the solar modules, thus supplying the maximum energy to the batteries.
Adaptive three-stage charging
The Smart Solar MPPT charge controller is configured for a three-stage charging process:
Constant current - Constant voltage - Float voltage
Constant current phase
During this phase, the controller supplies as much charging current as possible to charge the batteries quickly.
Constant voltage phase
When the battery voltage reaches the constant voltage setting, the controller switches to constant voltage mode. If only weak discharges occur, the constant voltage time is kept short to avoid overcharging the battery. After a deep discharge, the constant voltage phase is automatically extended to ensure that the battery is fully charged. The constant voltage phase is terminated as soon as the charging current falls below 2A.
Load maintenance phase
During this phase, trickle charge voltage is applied to the battery to maintain it in a fully charged state.
Internal temperature sensor
Equalises constant and float charge voltages according to the ambient temperature.
Remote-controlled switching on and off
The MPPT controller can optionally be remotely controlled via a VE.Direct non-inverting cable for remote on/off switching (ASS030550300). The HIGH input state (Vi > 8 V) switches the controller on and the LOW input state (Vi < 2 V, or free floating (open circuit)) switches it off.
LED indicators
- Blue LED (Bulk LED) Constant current: lights up when the battery is connected. Switches off when the constant voltage has been reached.
- Yellow LED (absorption LED) Constant voltage: lights up when the constant voltage has been reached. Switches off when the end of the constant voltage phase has been reached.
- Green LED (Float LED) charge retention voltage: lights up when the solar charger has switched to the charge retention phase.
